Lyndhurst Mansion, Tarrytown, New York. After viewing a video at the Welcome Center, begin a walking guided tour of the Mansion. Reflect on the lives of the mansion's residents and the development of American taste during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Impressive Tiffany and La Farge stained glass windows and decorative wall paintings adorn the Gallery. Explore the grounds on your own.

Sunnyside, Tarrytown. While on your walking guided tour, hear about the author, Washington Irving's storied past and how he came to be America's first internationally famous author, best remembered for The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and other short Stories. Beginning in 1835, he expanded a small cottage in stages, combining his sentimental interests in the architecture of colonial New York and buildings he knew in Scotland and Spain. The house became a three-dimensional autobiography.
