Mount Vernon, located near Alexandria, Virginia, was the plantation home of the first President of the United States, George Washington. The mansion is built of wood in neoclassical Georgian architectural style, and the estate is located on the banks of the Potomac River. Mount Vernon was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.The property consists of 500 acres, with the main buildings, including the house, located close to the river front.

Arrive Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens in Virginia.

Timed admission for the Mansion tours is included. Your Driver advises of the specific time on the morning of the tour. You can also visit the grounds and outbuildings, including the recently-restored Slave Quarters, the reconstructed Blacksmith Shop, The immersive Pioneer Farm site, and the stunning gardens. Visit the Orientation Center and Museum. View "We Fight to Be Free", an 18-minute mini-epic film showing pivotal moments from Washington's life.

The Education Center uses technology to tell Washington's entire life story. Lifelike models of George Washington, developed through an unprecedented forensic investigation, depicting the founding father as a 19 year-old surveyor, 45 year-old general, and 57 year-old president.

The Museum features more than 500 objects owned by the Washington families, including artifacts closely associated with life at Mount Vernon, the Revolutionary War, and the presidency.
